Why Can't I?

Why can't I be one of those Moms that stands on the sidelines and smiles no matter what? Why can't I be happy as long as the kids are happy? Why can't I ever keep my mouth shut? Why can't I go sit in the car and curse in silence?
Yes, boys and girls, baseball has started! It all started with Jarrett's scrimmage Thursday night. They played 3 innings. Jarrett played outfield twice and sat the bench once. For those of you that haven't been around the last couple of years, Jarrett is an All-star third baseman. Has been since the day he started baseball. Jarrett was also a starting pitcher last year. Did he even get to pitch? No! All the other seventy pitchers on the team did, but not Jarrett! I thought "OK, it is a scrimmage." "Lets see how the first game goes."
Friday night.... Brandon's scrimmage. They played 3 innings and Brandon sat for two of them. They have 13 kids on the team and he sat out twice! I was pissed! Brandon's team isn't full of talent like Jarrett's but everyone should get an equal chance to play.
Saturday morning......Jarrett's first game. Where was Jarrett in the line-up? Oh that's right he wasn't in it at all! He was bench! The head coach wasn't there, so the second in command was in charge. I think the other two coaches felt bad for Jarrett. They both came over to talk to me. Jarrett's team has almost all really, really good ball players. We have at least two kids that can play each position! Did they all get a chance? No! This guy subbed in outfielders only till one of the other coaches stepped in. Then they started subbing in the infielders. I was pissed and I know I wasn't the only one this time.
Finally in the end Jarrett and his friends got to play some infield. BTW Jarrett's team won 11 to 1. They do have a really good group of boys!
Now if only Momma can settle down. No we don't rant and rave in front of people or the kids. No we don't create a big scene. Jarrett is told that he needs to prove himself just like all the other kids. with all the good players on one team everyone needs to take turns. He's OK with it. I think he was hurt a little that he had to sit the bench but he never complained. Why can't I be like that?

because we are Moms! We hurt for our kids. everything that we see our kids go through hurts us. Alot of times, I think, more than it hurts them. I am the same way with Cayden. I see things, I get upset about it but he is usually ok (maybe a little sad but ok).
