Way back in 2001, the Harry Potter series of movies started out with The Sorcerer's Stone. Jarrett was only about 4 so we didn't run to the movies to see it. Of course there were the books but I was working and had two small kids to look after. Who had the time to read? I do remember going on vacation with Jason's family to Pennsylvania and Kevin and Mindy reading the latest book. Which one I don't remember. Brandon was like 2 at the time. I wasn't interested.
Then comes along more movies. I would sit down with the kids to watch them but I was so lost. So many things didn't make sense. I don't even think I watched all of The Prisoner Of Azkaban. I wasn't interested.
So then my friend, Kelly, decides that after listening to all the Twilight books at work, Harry Potter was next. Ok. I never read any of them and I really like listening to books while we work so I went with it. I loved them! There is so much more in the books. It almost makes the movies seem incomplete. I know you can't always get it all in a movie but as the Potter movies went on I felt they missed more and more. I now know why the movies didn't make sense.
I took the boys to the movies to see the last one. I was disappointed. It was a great movie but I felt that they concentrated too much on the coming of age lovey, dovey stuff than they did the story. There was even one part that I had no idea where it came from. I hope they do better with the Deathly Hallows. I know that they are splitting it into two movies. There are so many good parts from that book and I hope they get them all in. I laughed and I cried! I hope it's all there.
Sorry Kristy but I even liked the Harry Potter books better than Twilight. They were so much better written. Twilight does win for the best hotties though! I do confess to having a small crush on Ron. Teh, he, he!

I read the first 4 Harry Potter books in one weekend...this was before I had Jake or the kids. Then I had to wait for each of them to come out. It was dreadful...the wait that is. I loved the books. I think Stefanie Meyers was trying to write like J.K. in her last book. It was very Harry Potter-ish. I have only seen the first movie. I am just not that interested in the movie. I'd read 10 more books, though. Funny, I do consider myself a big movie buff but I usually stay away from movies that are from books I have read...or I wait a very long time, like until I forget all the details. If the latest Harry Potter is at the cheap movie theater by my mom's house, when I go there next week, I may see it....
The thought JK put into the HP books is amazing. THere is a show on the travel channel called Discovering Harry Potter that goes into detail about where certain names came from and places or events that influenced the stories. I love how much she drew from Greek Mythology.
