HUH?

This is another one of my "people are crazy" posts! The boys' scrimmage last night was more like a practice against different kids. They take turns on offense and defense and really don't keep score. I think most of the kids had fun. Well.........at least the ones that don't have nuts for parents!
Seriously! There were parents yelling from the sidelines at their kids. Things like "don't be a wuss!" and "you hit like a girl!" Hello! It's pee wee football not the NFL
Then there were the parents that were sitting in the crowd smoking! I know that was OK like 10 years ago but not anymore. Yes, I used to smoke. I would never imagine smoking at one of my kids sporting events at the school! There was one woman smoking, sitting two chairs from Maddox! I guess just because all the people in my family have quit(well except for the occasional alcohol induced smoke) I just think everyone else has too. At least they should have the good sense to go sit in their vehicles.
Worst of all, I think, are the parents that think their kids should play all game, every game, both sides of the ball, offense and defense. Like I said before, this is not the NFL. All the kids should get a chance to play regardless of how good they are. I do think that the kids that work harder in practice should get to play more. The kids that expect to play and are lazy in practice should not get as much playing time.
I guess it's a good thing I'm not a coach! Then again I couldn't be "just" a coach. I would have to run things or there would be even more drama than there is now! LOL

You're right about the smoking around kids. The State of Iowa has banned smoking at its highway rest stop grounds (that includes outside) unless you stay in your enclosed car.

The way we started our parent's meeting is by stressing that this is pee wee football- not the NFL, college or High school. These are kids and they are here to learn.
The playing time thing is touchy. These kids pay to play and are learning, so they all should get to play. Equal playing time? That's a different story. Our coaches are instructed to rotate as much as possible so that everyone gets plenty of game time. Our coach told the kids that if they miss more than one practive a week, they might not get to play in the game. I agree.
As for the smoking, the state of Ohio has banned it in public parks, so no one should have been smoking there. Bad morons!
You need to bring the boys up to Rittman to play. ;o)
